This beautiful river town got its start back in 1732 where it was known as Kingston.  The name then changed to Conwayborough in 1785.  During the mid-1800’s the Waccamaw River was the town’s main transportation artery and therefore many plantations sprung up along its banks as well as along the Little Pee Dee Rivers.  An important industry in the area at that time was “naval stores”, which were turpentine and lumber.  This industry increased as well as riverboats transporting passengers and goods along the river between Conway and Georgetown.  The railroad reached Conway in 1887 and the town was incorporated soon after.

Today, Conway is a charming town full of shops, art galleries and restaurants.  If you are looking for a spot that is away from the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach, then Conway is the perfect place to look for a home.  Visit Riverfront Park for a picnic or enjoy a stroll along the Riverwalk beside the Waccamaw River.  Enjoy lunch or dinner at one of Conway’s fabulous restaurants such as Rivertown Bistro, The Trestle, Luvan’s Fish Camp or the Crafty Rooster.   If you want to spend some time at the shore, you are only a short 15 minute drive from Myrtle Beach.  Whether you are looking for a permanent home or a second home, it is worth your time to discover the town of Conway.
